This object was made as part of the research and material exploration phase of the “Farnsworth in Fragments” series. The reclaimed travertine tiles were fired in a kiln, producing calcium carbonate, a plaster like material. Alluding to the original tile, the chalk block was cast from the ‘travertine’ plaster, recreating the same form in a new material.
